I have a location which has a merlin and an intuity voicemail system. We have a modem attached to the intuity and try and perform switch administration from the intuity menu. Get error message "GETKEY FAILED 25 CANT REMAP KEYBOARD". We do have SPM, but we do not have direct dial in access to the Merlin system. The modem is attached to the first com port on the intuity and the Merlin is attached to the second com port using the 355 adapter and straight thru patch cord.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I am not familiar with the Merlin system.

There is access software called SPM or WinSPM that can be use to remotely connect to a Legend.

You cannot perform merlin admin from the intuity menu in dialup mode. You need to call in to the merlin using spm/win spm and have someone transfer you to *10. Otherwise, you can setup a DISA line for remote access or a DID with barrier code access. Once you connect you'll have to enter the remote password for the merlin.

I think that answers the biggest questions that I had.
I tried every type of emulation I knew of to try and get to the switch administration.
What is DISA?
How do I set up WIN SPM to connect once I make a call and have them transfer me to *10(direct/internal/external)?
Do I place the call from the same line which is on my PC then hang up the phone?
Or should I have her on one line and have my pc call a seperate line and have her immediately transfer to *10?
Am I able to connect to the intuity and bring up SPM in a seperate window and use the intuity dial connection to initiate an internal SPM session?

I appologize, I am well versed on all systems except this one. This is a very different animal.

DISA is a format by which you can program a trunk so that you can dial in remotely to your PBX. You then enter a password and you receive internal dialtone and you can then function as though you were a t/r set on the switch itself. It is a big red flag for toll fraud, but has its applications. What you do is setup WinSPM on your laptop or remote PC. The line cord to your PC's modem should have a splitter. One end goes to the modem, the other to a t/r set. Open up your WinSPM and create a connection location as remote, and set it to use the com port on your PC that the modem is on. Pick up the phone and call in to a person on the Merlin, have them transfer you to *10 and when you hear modem tone, click connect on your WinSPM. If your used to using the Intuity for programming through switch admin, you'll probably prefer the standard SPM functionality on the WinSPM menu.

Is there any way to configure the Intuity system to allow you to transfer yourself to *10 like when using Merlin Messaging?

First off, GoKings is right on.

But a few more words are needed here.

DISA Is what we used to call REMOTE ACCESS in the MERLIN 2 World.

Now it is REMOTE ACCESS.

If you have D-I-D's or a line you can spare, you can have one line dedicated to be your Remote Access line to get to the ADMIN with SPM remotely & more or less Automatically.

- You have stated that you do not have this -

If not, there's a couple of things you can do, depending on the type of lines and hardware you have.

Considering you do have AUDIX then that tells me you do have a T&R Card of some type.

You could set up a TRANSFER ONLY extension in AUDIX to a SPARE T&R Extension.

That SPARE T&R Extension could then be Connected to a SPARE LINE PORT.

That SPARE LINE PORT could then be programmed for REMOTE ACCESS.

This is called a LOOP-AROUND, and few people fully undersand these things even after I explain them.

It's not easy, but it CAN BE DONE.

merlinman,
Your post gave me inspiration to try the loop-around once again. Past attempts were unsuccessful and after doing the programming and cross-connects it seemed to be no joy once again. Extension would ring but line port no answer. Then, remembered that previously unused line ports might just be busied-out. Yep. Restored the port and it works. Thanks!
