We are running Windows NT 4.0 on our server with remote access capability through a modem. I noticed that TAPISRV.EXE is causing the CPU usage to run at 100%. Remote users cannot access the network through dialup and I cannot access the remote access server from the network. It seems somehow to be stuck. I tried to stop the services (remote access service, telephony) but the system would not let me. I also tried to end the tapisrv.exe process, but was denied access. When I tried to shut down my server it froze and I had to shut it off. When I brought it back there were some digi errors in the event log, so I reconnected the digi and remote access worked then. Anyone have any suggestions? [sig][/sig]

here are 2 things to look at: 1)you mention digi, is that a multi modem digi board? if so, do you have the latest drivers? 2) i've had problems getting services to shutdown from the gui before, and i've found that if you stop the service from the dos prompt, it sometimes works when the gui will not. the command is "net stop servicename" ie-net stop messenger, to stop the messenger service. hope this helps.
