I am trying to connect to a Partner ACS 3.0 system with voicemail. I am using WinXP Pro with built in modems. I am using Partner ACS R7 PC Administration software.

I have followed all the directions on previous posts regarding baud rate, system programming etc. I have ext. 76 programmed in hunt group 6, have the password set, etc. I can connect occasionaly at 4800 via a direct (internal) connection off of ext. 40, but it then says the session could not be established.

WinXP has many different parameters that can be set for the port (Data Prototcol/Compression/Flow Control) What should these be set to. I have set the maximum port speed on the port and the modem properties to a max of 2400 and it still will not allow me to connect into the system.

What I find works some times is use an outside line to connect to an outside line then transfer to 776 or 76. Sometime outside calls connect better than inside calls.

So basically, from X-40, pick up an outside line, dial into another of your incoming lines, transfer to 776 or 76 and see if that helps.

I tried this over the outside phone lines (and with another PC) and I get connected at 14400 for about 15 seconds and then it shuts off and says session could not be established.

Hi jjdad,
If you pick up on the intercom with an extension and break the dial tone, is it noisy? If it is you will have trouble connecting. Also, while on site, remove the voicemail and try to connect. I have had two voicemails and know of another that were noisy and caused this problem. System noise left with vm replacement.

Hmm, I did have a very similar problem that through a combination of trying different modems and different lines I was able to get connected. I think I'm stumped at the moment.

I have not heard any noise on this system. It seems quiet. But, I will try removing the VM and see what happens. Thanks for everyone's input.

What kind of modem are you using? I hear you are supposed to be using an external US robotics, 56k. I wish Avaya would fix that, because those of us with laptops and modems built in, are a little frustrated carrying aaround another modem.

You know I had a problem similar to this one time. I could not remote in with my computer (laptop) onsite or off site. If I remember correctly it had something to do with the order of the cards. I think I had to make sure the voice mail was in the last position - meaning the last card installed in the system. There was something that was causing an issue, if I had the voice mail any where else in the system - once I moved it to the last position everything worked fine.

Second, I use a HP Pavilion Laptop with XP Pro -O.S and I've never had an issue with the proprietary modem. Please remember that sometimes when you use an existing or external modem windows will sometimes try to load their version of the Modem drivers and sometimes you will need to go and uninstall their driver for your modem and reinstall the manufactures modem drivers.

Not sure if I've been helpful or not and hope I was not redundant. The board has helped me allot so if I feel I have a little something to offer - I do.
Hope this helps.

John

Thanks for all the input so far....

I am using an HP Pavilion Laptop with the built in modem. I am also using a brand new desktop PC with a PCI card Intel 536EP Modem. Neither one will stay connected long enough to do a session.

I have also tried to connect to a Avaya Legend system and have similar problems. By all the posts I have read it seems to be more of a Avaya System problem than anything else. You seem to have to run a real low baud rates or use cheap modems. That makes no sense to me. I will be working on both of thes systems in the next couple of days and I will update my finding.s

Thanks Again!!!

Using XP with any modem is a real pain...however Lucent PCI
56k modems do work the best trying to remote access a legend or acs partner. Maybe the next release will fix this?
