My entire department has new laptops with Ager Systems AC'97 modem, integrated. Since we have gotten these new laptops, we have not been able to access any of our Octel systems. I know that the Octel uses 7-e-1 settings (which is different from everything else we access), but NO ONE can get in anymore. Does anyone out there know if there is a particular INIT string that we should be using for these connections? Thanks

What kind of Octel are you trying to access? What kind of modem is the Octel using? Is it the RDAC modem?

Good question. It was a system that was installed long before I got here, and I have never been to that office to check out the setup. Not much help, huh?

If the settings are 7-E-1, then it is almost certainly an Octel 200/300 Serenade. Try at a slow speed, say, 9600 baud.

I also had problems with a laptop internal modem, and I finally resorted to using and external one.
