In need of guidance. I have a Microsoft SOHO network (WinXPpro), a cable modem, ISP assigns a dynamic IP, a DLink 604 router. I need to connect to another Micosoft SOHO (Win XP home & Win 98se), same ISP, also cable modem, a Belkin 54g Wireless DSL/Cable Gateway Router.

What's a simple solution for a relative newbie? How do I get around the dynamic IP and router's NAT? Any ideas or pointers welcome.

Eli

You won't be able to get around the router's NAT unless you use a web based service like GoToMyPC, but they are a monthly paid service and they "get around" the NAT for you.

If you use something like pcAnywhere, my preference, then you will have to configure the router to port forward pcAnywhere's ports. Symantec has documentation on what to do at the following link:
Title: 'Cannot connect to a pcAnywhere host through a router'
Document ID: 2001050711552112
> Web URL:
As for the Dynamic IP, you can use a DNS service like dns2go.deerfield.com or no-ip.com

hope this helps
