I have a small LAN, two computers connected by a crossover cable which share an internet connection, printer and files.
I would like know if it is possible and if so, how to set up remote access to the second computer so that when my wife is having a problem I can see her desktop and manipulate her computer from mine, this would make things much easier for us.
Both machines are running XP home and I noticed in the programs list a function called remote assistance, however this appears to be for internet usage only.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Remote assistance works just fine on a lan. Right click on My Computer, Properties, Remote tab, make sure 'Allow Remote assisstance....' is checked, then go to the Advanced button and and make sure 'Allow this computer to be controlled remotely' is checked.
