I can connect locally with no problem to my Partner ACS R6 system. But if I try to dial in from a remote location, using the dial string in the Getting Started Guide, sec. 4, p. 27, I can hear the Attendent saying "Invalid response". There is never any attempt to negotiate a connection with the modem. The dial string I'm using is (fictitious phone number):
1234578,,,,,,,776
I set Hunt Group 6 to Ext. 76, the Partner modem,, as the manual suggests. Any ideas why this isn't working? Is the Auto attendent supposed to recognize 77 as a transfer to a Hunt Group?

Thanks!

Set selector code 7 to direct extension dialing in the automated attendant, as 7 is not used by default.

Yup, or use *8 pause 76. Ext 76 needs to have a transfer only mailbox. You can use operator assisted and hit the button when you get a modem tone.
