Hello, Got a system here that from time to time gets cranky and no longer wants to let me in via a network connection. I can ping it, but that's about it. I'm still learning the ropes with it and need some guidance on what I need to check or reset or what. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Using ASA. Is that Unix? Pretty sure it's not Linux. Thanks

Had the same problem. Check the DNS server IP address in the Intuity TCP/IP Networking administation page.

TelecomAdmin. I'm so green, that I'm not sure where to look for that. Could you point me in the right direction... again? Thanks!

Call an Avaya Business Partner. If you don't know your way around the intuity you going do due more harm then good.

Wow Phoneguy. Nice response. Thanks for the help.

tyrap-

I'm sorry, but I've got the same opinion as phoneguy.

If you've never worked on a car, you can probably change a tire. But you're not going to rip the alternator out and replace it. You need to know your limits.

As a beginner trying to troubleshoot too deep into the Audix can and has led to problems. Stick to adding, removing and changing subscribers, auto attendants, etc.

Your voice mail is more than likely in production. Taking advice, making changes you don't KNOW what they do can lead to major downtime...which will be more costly than having a tech who knows what they're doing come in in the first place.

You know what.... nevermind. I'm pretty mechanically and technically inclined. I can change a tire and an alternator for that matter. I can probably find my way around the phone system but thought I would see if I could get a quick answer here while I worked on other things and cut down on the amount of time spinning my tires. Heck if I can't ask a question here... what's this forum for? Thanks for nothing. Ciao.

No offense was meant I am sure. It was your replies to the attempts at help that raised the red flag. It is not possible to walk someone through changes without the basic skillset for the task. Again, that is not a jab. It's like starting a tire changeing analogy with "remove the jack from the trunk" and getting a response of "what's a trunk?". The responses told the people that posted it was better to not mess with this one in their professional opinion as it was evident more than a "quick answer" to keep from "spinning tires" was going to be required.

Sorry for the frustration my reply caused. This forum is an excellent place to find and exchange information; all posting are meant to help. Additionally, the Avaya support web site has Intuity documentation. If maintaining this system is part of your responsibility, I recommend you formularize yourself with the Intuity administration.

hi tyerap

Can you able to login from your ASA to the PABX itself before? Try to check the ip address. You could also do a telnet of that ip and after loging in try the command "autosat" that should get you inside the PABX without the ASA instead.

TelecomAdmin. I'm so green,

The comments made were to help you tyerap. One bad stroke and your system is down and someone is going to be looking at you. Thats not what any one of is going to do to you.

However if you will post the system(s) you are trying to work on and their version of software, we can get you all the information you need to work on them. All of us here starting "Green" and had someone help us get started.

Let us know what you need to help you.

Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something.
