I have a need to be able to call into my system from a remote location (home) and access my lines from my Magix system to place long distance calls. I have checked into the remote access under lines and trunks, and also Barrier codes. I just can't seem to make it work. I would greatly appreciate any help.

The best way is if you have a spare DID number, renumber the remote access code from 889 to the DID number. Create a barrier code (default is 7 digits). Assign a different barrier code for each person using this feature. Change the restriction level to the appropriate level you want.

If you don't have a DID number you need a specific trunk, and assign it as either 'dedicated' or shared. If 'dedicated', it cannot be used for any other purpose (so for instance, you don't want the trunk to be a part of your main incoming hunt group), if assigned as 'shared' it will only function as a remote access trunk when the console is in night mode.

Call your remote access number, you will be answered by a stuuer dial tone, enter the barrier code, you will get another dialtone, if you have set the restriction correctly, dial '9' plus your telephone number.

You should advise the customer of the dangers involved in using this feature and have a plan for periodically changing all barrier codes, and immediately changing or deleting the code of any 'user' who leaves the company or changes roles.

Thanks for your post. I have it running using an extra POTS line in the system as dedicated. It works fine for this senerio. I believe Barrier codes are very important to prevent missuse. Thanks again.
