I have just upgraded from XP Home Edition to XP Professional since then I have not been able to get the Remote Access Connection Manager service to run. I have tried starting it manually but I get a message saying "Access is Denied".
I have full admin rights on the PC so I do not understand why it says access denied.

Please help.

You didn`t mentioned how you made it ( meaning administrative tools --->start service/application...? ). You have to define RCP option also for the Control panel/system. Maybe you`ve also tried to do that.

phil2k,

The default state is for this service to be Manual as a startup option. It is started by SYSTEM when and if it is needed.

As Administrator you normally do not have rights to change the desposition status of this service.

You could adjust this of course, by making the Adminstrator have permissions for COM objects, and this service in particular.

But it is likely if there is an issue with the service, the issue comes from a failure of your Telephony service to start, or possibly RPC. Rather than modify permissions for RasMan, sort the underlying issues with other services.
