Remote Access cannot register username and password

O/S in NT 4.0

I am trying to dial in to a remaote pc from my desktop pc.

My desktop PC is configured for one domain and I am trying to connect to a difernet domain.

I connect successfully but it does not authenticate my username and password - i get a timeout. I have built up a laptop not on any domain with exactly the same dial up settings and I can connect successfully.
