Remote Access BCM50

Can anyone shine any light on how to setup remote access that works on a bcm50. I've mangaged to dial in to a customers bcm from my office via a analogue modem, however when i try and make any changes the ElementManger locks up. Is this a known problem? If so, are there any ways to sort it out?
