Have 6 POTS lines coming into office on an 824 running DR5 software. Lines 1, 2 & 3 are in line pool A with no code. Line 4 is in line pool B with a 4 digit access code. Line 6 is configured to be answered with DISA using a 6 digit COS. Line 6 is using remote access package 4. System works as I thought it would as I dial line 6 and get a shuttered dial tone. I enter the COS and get a system dial tone. I enter the 4 digit line pool code and get access to line 4 so I can make an outside call using that line. I can also dial a target line or do remote paging.

The problem is when office employees use the intercom button and dial 9 to get a line from line pool A a password is now required . Previously a password was not required. I don’t want to have to enter a password to access line pool A. If I remove the password code from line pool B then the intercom button works as I want it to. However, when I dial into line 6 I get a shuttered dial tone, enter the COS and get a system dial tone. I then cannot access line pool B, only target lines and remote paging. What am I missing here?

"Lines 1, 2 & 3 are in line pool A with no code"
If that's the case the only way to grab one of those lines is to physically press one of those lines on a set if assigned to appear at minimum.

"Line 4 is in line pool B with a 4 digit access code"
4 digits as an access code? curious as to what digits are they?...4 seems excessive.

"The problem is when office employees use the intercom button and dial 9 to get a line from line pool A"
According to your first sentence there is no code assigned to those lines.

"If I remove the password code from line pool B "

What exactly is your setup in programming terms?
You sure the the display prompts "password"??

-COS using what filters?
-Lines using any filters?
-What remote packages and what access to pools
-Lines are in which pools?
-Access Codes for pools = ?

Curlycord, I appreciate you responding to me. I knew you would be the first one as you are always so helpful. I guess I did not explain my problem very well. Before I set up remote access I had line pool A available to users using the intercom button as they don’t have any line buttons on their telephones. All they had to do was press intercom and 9 to get an outside line from line pool A.

After I set up remote access I assigned line 4 to line pool b with a 4 digit access code (9221). Now I can dial in and enter a 6 digit COS after getting a shuttered dial tone. Then I enter 9221 and I have access to line 4. If I don’t enter 9221 I can dial a target number or feature codes for remote paging. That is working as I believed it would. However, now employees in the office can no longer press intercom, dial 9 and get a line from line pool A. They must also enter 9221.

I went to configure, show – Misc, show – Line pool codes to enter the 9221 for line pool B.
I have set up a COS password; however, I do not know how to place a filter on COS. I am using line filter 3 which does nothing more than not allow certain area codes. I am using remote package 4 which allows access to line pool B and remote page.

What I am attempting to do is allow employees in the office to press intercom, 9 and get a line from line pool A. Employees that use remote access can enter the COS password and then have access to line pool B which is line 4. Thanks for your questions and help.

Your users can't dial 9 because you are using 9xxx as a Pool-B code. 9 was a dial out code (default) for every line not in a Line pool. You would have had to remove it to creat your 9221 Pool-B access code.

I suggest you use 8221 as your Pool-B code if you must use 4 digits and assign 9 as your Pool-A code.

Allworxguy, thank you for your post. I knew the solution would be simple. I did the programming as you posted and it is now working just as I thought it would work. Curlycord, thanks for you help also.
