Hi

I have two servers. One is backing up the other accross the network. I have got the Remote agent and the open file options installed. I do get a warning message about the remote agent reminding me that it should be started etc on the remote server. I get this message at the start of the job. Apart from that i get no other warning/failure messages. However my job fails.

I am using backup exec v8.6

Anybody help ?

Cheers

Is the RA(remote agent) service automatic and started on your remote machine ??
check the services for backup exec remote agent
and do u have the license installed on the media server(the backup exec server) ??

The remote agent is started and running, set to automatic. When i right click on server in the backup tree in backupexec it says the agent is running ok there as well !

I installed the licence for the remote server on the media serer (the one with backupexec on it)

I also have/had another problem. I have the open file option installed but i get a message about a lack of system resources so i have turned the open file option off.

Anything i need to tweek ?

The backup job ran ok last night as per backing the files up but i still get this message as per my origional post.

run Regedt32 to make the modification.

The Registry Key value "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\NTFS\<Restrict Anonymous> Support" must be set to one (1) and the Backup Exec services must be stopped and restarted.

when you get in there, double click on Restrict Anonymous Support on right that is probably 0, then change to 1.

Thanks again m8 ! :D

I'll let you know tomorrow if it works !

Cheers

I think i've just found out why this has been happening

I have two registry keys missing ! as per
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Agents\RecieveTimeout
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\Backup Exec\Engine\Agents\SendTimeout

I've added them and i'll report back here tomorrow if it works or not
