I have a user (Outlook 98) whose Reminder will not pop up. I have ensured that she is using the calendar and tasks in her delivry folder. I have also ran the outlook /cleanreminders. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
When we were using Outlook 98 at my company, this was a common problem. She probably has a corrupted recurring appointment. See Microsoft Article Q193281 for more information. The instructions in this Microsoft article are a little confusing.
Here are the instructions that I wrote for our help desk to fix the problem. They may work for you as well. You'll need to create a test mailbox and have full permission to the user's mailbox to perform these instructions.
Outlook 98: Calendar Reminders not working.
This is due to someone having a reoccurring appointment on their calendar that has been changed too many times. It has become corrupted, thus making their calendar reminders fail.
Here's how to find the corrupted appointment:
Login to the mailbox that I've created called "Test Mailbox". Add the user's mailbox to the test mailbox's Outlook folder list. View the reoccurring appointments of the offending calendar. One by one, copy (ctrl+drop&drag) the appointments to the test mailbox calendar.
When you receive this error:
"There was a problem reading one or more of your reminders. Some reminders may not appear. Cannot locate reoccurance information for this appointment."
Click "ok" twice (the error appears twice)
You've found the corrupted appointment. Inform the user which corrupted appointment that they must completely remove (all occurances) and then they may recreate the appointment on their calendar.
