Remember settings - (not) roaming profile 1

Hi all,

We currently use ZENworks 6.5's DLU & volatile user for all students login. However it would be very useful for visually handicapped students if the system can remember their accessibility settings (i.e large fonts, large icons, and color scheme).

Is there a way of doing this without bringing 'roaming profile' back from the land of the dead? Preferably without having to disable volatile user. Has anyone come across a group policy extension or other tools that can do this?

We're using ZEN 6.5 SP1a, NetWare 6.5 environment, XP Pro SP1 workstations, Novell Client 4.90SP2 & ZEN Agent 6.5.1.0.

So let me get this stright, you do NOT want roaming profiles AND you want to use volitile users AND you want to be able to save desktop preferences?

the only way you can do this is if your students have individual login ID's, or you give the handicap users a special login ID. You can then make the handicap users non volitile so the desktop preferences get soved, or go roaming profile. Not sure if the settings you are looking for are avilable in a Group Policy (your only policy choice in XP), and the desktop preferences no longer offer the accesibility settings (they did for previous OS versions).

I am in the middle of a ZFD deployment and I am getting a VMware pc ready to setup my customers policies, while I am in there I will dig around to see if there is a setting that will help you. This really would only make it so you could prevent users from altering the settings, but you would still be stuck giving your handicap users an alternate login.

Maybe there is a third party tool that can help? <shrugs>
