Users log into a 2003 terminal server and run a batch file that contains:

change port /D com1
net use com1 \\tsclient\com1

This worked great for several weeks but stopped today. I've tried rebooting and not sure where to go now.

The actually error is:
System error 87 has occurred.

The parameter is incorrect.

what is the "change port /D com1" trying to do?

if it is to delete that port and then remap it, shouldn't it be:

net use com1 /DELETE
net use com1 \\tsclient\com1

I may have misunderstood.

Tried what you said and the same thing happened.

I used the change port to try and automatically map it for each user when they logged in but have switched to using only net use
