Can anyone help me with an estimated time it would take to relink the kernel on a p4 2.0ghz machine. We are trying to estimate the downtime.

This depends largely on disk speed, but it should be less than 2 minutes. On current hardware with fast disk the relink kernel time is about 5-10 seconds.

Hey that's not too bad, the guy who was going to do it hasn't done it in years and that was on a 386 and it too hours. lol Appreciate your help!

Relinking OpenServer 4.2 on a 486/33 box used to take a LONG time. Probably not hours, but it was certainly something you didn't approach without a snack and comfy pillow nearby.
