We are currently using a Linksys E2500. I believe it may be going bad. I have already replaced one of these routers at the beginning of the year at this location. A few months before that I had to replace a WRT54GL.

The issue that lead to the need to replace them was that they would continually reboot. The one in use now I am starting to see erratic behavior such as ping requests time out on the WAN port.

Does any body have any recommendations for a small business wireless router. I would really like to get feed back from those that have actually used a router rather than just taking my chances on something.

You know, I would ask yourself, "Is something else going on to cause two routers to start misbehaving?". You may have a power problem. Try putting in a small UPS for the router and see if it makes any difference.

A really nice basic business router is the Cisco RV042/RV082. It does VPN, has a good firewall and supports multiple WAN if you want redundancy. And for wireless, you could hang a wireless access point off the router (or anywhere on your network) that would only handle wireless. Something like an Engenius ECB350. Or get both in the same package if the location of the router is good for the wireless access point as well (Cisco RV110W).

But honestly, any name brand router should take care of you if it's a simple environment (no need for the RV series). I have my same Linksys WRT54G since 2003. Still working and it's on a UPS for protection. Cisco, Netgear, Asus all good brands.

I do have the router plugged into a UPS on the battery side.

I was thinking it could be the about of traffic that it is handling. It handles up ward of 4 gig a day. I know it is not a lot for a business. But it might be a lot for these routers.
