There seem to be huge numbers of people on this forum -Windows 2000, as well as the other Windows forums, yet much fewer on Solaris, Linux, Netware, etc. Is Windows much more problematic than those? Or is it that Windows is preferred 10 to 1 over those other systems?

I think it has to do with the number of Windows machines out there. Think about this, how many businesses that you know of have no Windows is them? How many have a mixture? How many are all Windows? It seems like most of your small shops run all Windows. When you get into larger enterprises a mixture of things are running.

Also, everyone has been running out and getting certified in the last few years. Who has handed out the most certs? What platform do you think those people will implement in their environment. Lets just say Microsoft knew what they were doing.

First, it's largely the widespread deployment of Windows which causes the large number of Windows posts.

Also, Linux is fairly new to a lot of people. Looking at the Linux forum, for example, I see many more "how do I ..." than "I have a problem ..." posts.

Thanks. That makes sense. Mrmoneymatters, you say that small shops run all Windows. Can you define a small shop? Less than 100 users? Less than 500 users? Thanks again, you've been helpful.
