Hello Everyone,

First of Happy New Year!

Secondly, do you know how to release swap space? It says that 75% used, but when checking with vmstat I saw no paging activity.

Thank you in advance.

A common monitoring tool is running on the system and it "beeps" if the limit is over 60%. :-( That is the only reason.

if you really want to deactivate a pagingspace ( not advisable u can do it with the following command :

swapoff /dev/pagingxx

with pagingxx being the name of your paging space ( the active pagingspaces can be retrieved with lsps -a )

But really really be certain that your system doesn't use the swap, otherwise your system hangs :)

greetz and a merry newyear

Yes, I wanted to "free" it.

I do not think you can/may/should free any memory space without identifying the redundant processes and killing them manualy.
I would not do it in any way.If you lack space - then increase your paging space.

Long live king Moshiach !

Yes, increasing would be a solution, but I thought there is an other possibility to free up swap.
Anyway, thanx for the comments.
