Can we use Release 8 licenses (Part Number: 269480 - R8 Preferred Edition License and 174461 - IPO LIC VM PRO RFA 8 LIC:CU) on an IPO running R9 Essential Edition or do we only have to use the new R9 ADI Licenses. Price for R8 Licenses is far cheaper than the R9 ones and client wants to save some $.

You can use the old ones, Avaya are hoping licence confusion will make them more money, in reality they will both work. I think certain licences are £1000+ more expensive on R9 and they're effectively the same licence :)

My account manager said that if you are installing a new system on v9 then the licences have to be v9 where available, however if you have upgraded a system to v9 then the older licences are fine to be used.

You order licences from the ADI site independently of the hardware order (well we do), they have no way of knowing against which system they're ordered, all they get is a FK number...so it's bollocks really :)

When you order 8.1 licenses but put 9.0 on the SD card then it will work fine.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
