Hello,

the new 3.2 release will now be available for download on support.avaya.com on July 31st!

Around here were heard perhaps as early as the 24th.

The GA is out to the trial users - so guess it should be coming out soon.

Seems ok so far!

That is the GA Candidate is out to field trial partners, It could chaneg if we discover a bigenough bug

But yip it looks ok sofar
the changes to the new manager are going to make a lot of engineers happy!

New Manager does look ok - except a few little annoying things like asking for passwords too often, you can't highlight a field when you tab to it, you can't see the incoming/outgoing line ID of any lines (sometimes was useful during fault finding), and even though you have the 3 View Panes (when you click a user it opens up on the right hand side) you can't select multiple users like you can now and make any changes to particular users - now you would have to click on each user.

Some very good parts to it though!

Passwords, I guess this is the cost of increassed secutity :-(

I find the new 3 pane layout easier than opening multiple useres when it comes to checcking all useres have a particular setting. it is not much more dificult whan edditing multiple users although I guess this is one for personal preference.

Personaly I find entering/editing IP Adresses to be the biggest pain but again I expoect I shall get used to it.

& of coures backwards compatible too 2.1 so no more worries about which 1 of 5 managers to use :)

In short the gains outweigh the losses.

Changing the gui to a triple pane might be useful I suppose. I know that selecting too many users to edit at once can exhaust computer resources(read outta ram or a memory leak)You can only change one user at a time anyway. It was easy(read lazy) to select them all at once.

So I suppose that only being able to change one user at a time eliminates a potential problem.

Wait till you forget the Super User password and all others, then you are really stuffed.

Kewl, I've been thinking about that.

Can Avaya go in and reset the password like they can do on the INDeX system if they get the dialup info or is they only way plugging into the DTE and reset the unit? :)

Only way to reset a password will be by the DTE port - I sense the end of Snad Boy!

What I'm worried about slightly is for Helpdesk teams who may forget the password - before, as long as we had a config it was easy to login to a box - now, it won't be so easy!

Snad Boy, does however, still work on older configs in the new Manager (first thing I checked!!)

The only thing I don't like about the 3-pane layout is that I haven't been able to select multiple sets, shortcodes, etc anymore (unless I'm missing something). So if I have to delete several things, I've been doing it one at a time. :(

The security usere password can be reset using the DTE port
once this is reset it is possible to gain access to the system without needing to default the whole config.

This means that even without a config you can still gain access to the system (once an engineer is physicaly on site)

In the past if a previous maintainer refused to divulge the info thge only option was a full default & retype

Funny thing is you can download the config with an old manager and the password in the system tab.
So it overrules the check for passwords.

And if you have a old config you can put the config back and it will not look at the security code,s
