Hi All; hoping someone can help me with my dilemna.

I have an Exchange2k3 server running with my own domain name.. i want to use my ISP to forward the email out of the exchange server... can this be done? if so where do i start looking? i have tried relaying, different smtp ports (26 and 587)... these may even be right for all i know but am missing some settings... Rogers is my service provider..

thanks in advance

I'm hoping someone with more expertise can chime in, but I'm thinking that what you are trying to accomplish is to send mail through a smarthost. I believe this can be set by getting to the properties of the SMTP Connector.

I would contact your ISP. I am assuming you would like to forward out and also allow their SMTP to receive your email and forward it (in) to your exchange server, like a gateway. This way any external mail, coming in, can be held should your exchange server be offline. This is a common service offered by most ISPs and they would be happy to assist you in setting it up. I don't think you could just set up a smart host on your SMTP connector as, I am sure your ISP has not given you the right to relay through them.

That is exactly what i need it to do... i cant seem to get the SMTP connector to forward mail out beyond my ISP for some reason. I did call them and they stated that i need to send from my mail client directly to the rogers SMTP server when sending but receive from my exchange server. This is not quite what i was hoping to achieve.

I figured there must be someway for my exchange server to do all the "hand-shaking" on my behalf... is anyone out there running with a config like this?

thanks in advance.

Why relay trough another SMTP?

Send by your own!!

Italian are WORLD CHAMPION :)

Not clear on why you need to send through your ISP. Do you have a domain name and public IP Address? If yes, you should be able to just send mail through the SMTP connector of the Exchnage Server.
