relaying errors

I am having sendmail errors whenever I try to send an email to an outside address. I can email internally, but if I mail to someone outside our domain I get a relaying error from sendmail. The error reads:

account 'chagen', SMTP server 'mail.xxx.com' relaying denied

What do I do?
