Good morning -

Should relationships be stored in the front end or back end of the database?

Thanks in advance.

I put them in the back-end. In my eyes, relationships are part of the table definitions, and thus belong with the data tables rather than the interface. However, I'm not sure if it actually makes a difference.

Maybe somebody more knowledgable can outline the actual pros and cons of each approach.

Put them in the backend. The reason for relationships is to protect the integrity of the data. This keeps the data from being corrupted if somebody makes an "alternate" front-end and doesn't bother to create the relationships there (or writes code that would destroy the data integrity).

Thank you both for your answers!! I will keep the relationships in the back end.

Have a great day!
