i have a relational database for a weekly progres report which holds certain subject with hours completed for that week next to the subject.

my primary DB has a required and remaining feilds. what do i need to do so when i enter 1 for an hour completed in life skills for a person that is already in the rational databse, it will subtract from the hours required for life skills and then display hours remaining for life skills.

right now it just works for the first report. every other weekly report it dosent factor it in.

this is what one person told me but i dont really understand how exactly this is done nor need a button to do this. i need this to be done on the fly.

"add a field in the main database
called say calculated hours remaining and a button to
trigger a calculation script. Then write a script that
finds all related records and sums the hours and then
subtracts from the required hours and fills in the
remaining hours."

never mind guys i figured it out my own way of doing it.

thanks anyway
