My computer says it cant find the gdi.exe file and that I need to reinstall windows but it wont read the D drive how do I reinstall it?

The gdi.exe file is the graphics device interface. Installing is the last option you need now so what you can try doing is to copy the c:\winnt\system32\gdi.exe file from another server/pc with the same operating system onto a stiffy. (it's a small file) and then boot up your machine with a dos stiffy and copy the file to your winnt\system32 directory. This might work, obviously depending on other files being corrupt or missing as well.

Hope you get your machine fixed!
