I had a client that uninstalled and reinstalled Terminal Service’s on a Citrix MFXP server to fix a printer issue

He was receiving this error

Event ID: 1103
Event Type: Error
Event Source: TermServDevices
Description: An internal communication error occurred. Redirected printing will no longer function.

Researching the problem referred Microsoft Knowledge Base Article – 276532

This problem occurs because the Terminal Services Device Redirector did not install properly. To resolve this issue, uninstall and reinstall Terminal Services.

Now terminal services is running and you can make RDP connections you can also make ICA desktop connections

But the published apps will not start

I have tried republishing the apps and no success also SP for citrix

I can’t find any info on this situation so any help is appreciated

you havent mentioned here but if you uninstalled terminal services you will probably have to uninstall and re-install metaframe as well, then re-publish apps.

I ran into the same problem on a test server. Re-installing Terminal Services overwrote at least one registry key that Citrix had put something in. I don't remember now what keys were affected, but I was able to fix them without re-installing Citrix. In retrospect though, it would probably have been easier to re-install Citrix.

If you make any changes to the subsystem especially applying service packs then it is generally a good idea to re-install MetaFrame for just this reason. Some hotfixes caused me to re-install in the past.

I keep an image of the base operating system with apps installed for just this purpose, upgrading it with hotfixes and patches when necessary.

To track registry changes, you can use regmon from
Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
