Reinstalling Notes

I need to reinstall Notes. The problem is I do not want ot lose anything (calendar, bookmarks, address book). What is the best way to do this? We have our data file on the users home directory (F). I usually delete everything in the data file and then reinstall from there. But, I really don't want to lose anything. We are running R5. Thanks.

You can back up your data directory and your notes.ini Then uninstall notes and reinstall. Before you run notes for the first time copy back the data directory and the notes.ini and it should look exactly the same

I thought I needed to get rid of the data file completely. Isn't there just some files I should get rid of? Like .nsf files? Where exactly are the calendar entries kept? Thnaks for your input.

calendar entries are stored in your mail database. The data folder holds all of your .nsf files which are all the databases you have locally. If you remove this then you are going to lose them all. Why do you need to reinstall notes anyway ?

I have users who get errors such as invalid or non existent document. I called the Lotus help desk and they said reinstall. I support some people who do not want to lose their calendars and addresses. I have other errors but can't think of them right now.

invalid or non existent document wont be fixed with a reinstall. Well it would if you deleted all the databases as well and created new ones. That error is caused by a corrupt database. You could check the names.nsf that normally causes that kind of error message.
