Hi all i recently reinstalled windows 98SE, and i get the error of the microsoft networking (missing files: vnetsetup.vxd...msnp32.dll) i know how to solve this so don't stop reading because this is not he problem, I have a cable connection, and the ethernetcard is not installed anymore.. i didn't get any floppy's or cd with my pc and i dont know how to reinstall my ethernet card.. Do i need to download any special drivers or can it be done from the windows CD?

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

Jelmer

First you need to determine what type of card it is. Then go to the Manufactures website and look for win98 drivers. Open up your pc and look at the card. Somwere on it you should be able to see what model and who makes it. If not look at the chipset and find drivers for it.

yeah i tought of this but i hoped there was a more easier way to do it.. thanks anyway

First off, who is your cable ISP provider?

Second, you need to know the make and model of the network card. You could try taking it out of the machine and see who made the card. If you can't find that information, you could download a program called SiSoft Sandra. That should tell you just about everything you need to know about your computer. Once you've figured out who makes the card, you can go to to get the drivers for it.

Third, what you need to do is go into the properties of Network Neighborhood and remove all references listed in there. When you reboot your computer, Windows should automatically see the card and prompt you to install the drivers. Install the drivers that were mentioned in the previous step.

That should take care of your problem...keep us informed... Enkrypted
A+

It may be possible to do it from the windows CD. But you may need to know what card it is if hardware detection fails to pick it up.
There are built in drivers, but won't be the latest and greatest, and can get you in trouble. There are drivers for lots of 1998 and before cards. Ed Fair
