reinstall ver 5.2 image

I upgraded from ver 4.4 to 5.2 using the monitor mode
can i reinstall ver 5.2 again from the monitor mode or do i have to ue another method to reload ver 5.2

1)when i go into monitor mode and setup IP address,tftp server ,file name etc it does not copy the file. I am unable to ping in monitor mode to the tftp server( tftp to inside interface PING works fine)

I guess i am trying to redo my complete firewall config and was wondering if i can just reload the image agin or delete the config and start over

HI.

The latest version is 6.1, so if your upgrading, why not to the latest?

Anyway, to clear the config you don't need to reinstall the OS.

Use the command:

write erase

and then reload the PIX.

Monitor mode should allow you to upgrade or downgrade your PIX OS image at will.

If you can't ping the TFTP server then you need to clear that connectivity problem first. If you can't ping the server, chances are the transfer will not work.

As Yizhar pointed out you can erase the configuration and start over by executing a "write erase" at the enable prompt followed immediately by a "reload". Do not save the configuration before that reload.
