Hello,
I am using SQL Server Express and am having some issues which I believe are the result of a bad install. I cannot find Business Intelligence Development Studio, and I uninstalled the SQL Server Management tool thinking that that may have had something to do with it. Now, when I go to install either of them, it is telling they are already installed so the installer cannot proceed.
I would like to completely uninstall SQL Server and do a fresh reinstall. My questions is - if I do this, how would I go about keeping my current db structure in place. Will I have to recreate everything, or is there a way that I can get SQL Server to automatically recognize everything? I have some database structure that I already used for programming and I also have reporting services set up.

Any recommendations or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The un-install does not delete user databases. But I still make a habit of stopping the SQL services and copying the .mdf and .ldf files to another folder. You can then just attach you database after you install again.
