Reinstall of Exchange V5.5

I upgraded my companies Exchange server from V5.0 to V5.5 via an upgrade CD earlier this year. I now have to move the Exchange database to a new server (the new server will have the same name as the old one).

When I build my new server can I load Exchange V5.5 from the upgrade CD or do I have to load Exchange V5.0 and then upgrade to V5.5?

Just load 5.5 but you will need to start a new site not join the old one. Once server is built stop services and copy over all 3 edb files and the isinteg -patch and you should be good to go. Just make sure you create the new site with same rights as old or else you will have to do DS/IS stuff and thats not good
