Hi, I formatted my partition last night and reinstalled windows xp professional. When the desktop was displayed, the reycle bin had items in it still? How can this be if I formatted the drive then reinstalled?

My drive consists of two partitions. The first is where everything is installed, the second (extended) is where I store my data.

Does anyone know why my recycle bin kept its contents?

Kindest thanks

You have a recycle bin folder on each partition. It consists at its heart as nothing more than a specificly named folder with an index file. If the second partition had contents in the bin, I would not be at all surprised that they appear with a reinstallation of Windows.
