Hello,

A member of my family is having a problem with IE 6.0. He is using Windows XP Home and for some reason now when he tries to open IE 6.0 he gets the default screen you would get if you had no internet connection. Firefox works fine as well as all other internet applications. I'm pretty sure a reinstall would fix the problem but whenever he tries, he gets a message like this "you already have the latest version of IE installed, setup will now cancel". This is the only valid article I could find:
Does anyone know of an easier way to re-install that doesn't involce registry hacking or maybe a different solution he could try? thanks much

1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and click on "Add or Remove Programs"
2. Click on the icon to the left of the list of programs that says "Add/Remove Windows Components" and uncheck "Internet Explorer" and click "Next" through to the end.

Then exit out of the control panel and you should be able to re-install IE.

Hopfully this works for XP Home - I have XP Pro, not XP Home, so your screens may be different.

Or maybe a higher power is telling your family member that s/he is supposed to be using Firefox :)

Good luck.
