I just installed an R7 with 308 ec and 400 ec. The only way I can see caller ID is to push ringing line button. How can I make the cid appear on each phone/line while ringing. I have 10 lines - 9 phones. Each phone has 1 line set to Immediate ring. All other lines No Ring. I searched other forums with little success.

Csller ID only automatically appears on a RINGING line. So, as you have found, to inspect the CID on a line that is flashing but not audibly ringing, you need to press the line button.

Sorry, that's just the way it is!!

Thanks, but what I mean is Caller ID does not show on phone that IS ringing. One phone-one line that rings.

there is no option to actually turn the CID off on the partner system, are you sure that the CID is sent from the CO? Partner CID works for Partner sets only NOT for analog sets (except on the new R8)

If you can't be good, be good at it!

So what I can glean from searching the archives is that if a phone is ringing, CID should be displayed. Correct?
I do have CID at the dmark. I am using 18d sets. I'm stumped.

Which module is the line in question connected to?

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

I should also add that this is a very vanilla operation. 10 lines 10 phones no groups, no vm nothing but one line rings on ect 10 line 2 on ext 12 etc one button set for lnr. Thats it.

Could that particular line port be defective?

If you have CID at the DEMARC, then swap that line with a known working one and see if the problem follows the line or the port.

Is the local service standard POTs lines or is it provided by an alternate provider who has some type of equipment installed at the office?

I asked about which module the line was connected to is because inside the 400EC, the board that contains the circuitry to capture caller ID, could be loose or defective.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Good point Dexman! With the various flavors of VIOP stuff floating around you never know what you may be receiving!

thanks.I'll try these tomorrow. I have a key to the door, but it's too nice a day to work on phones. Besides I'm cooking a prime rib on the grill.

enjoy the weekend

I'm thinking that if you can get the caller ID info at all, the phone system is collecting it. Of course, you won't see it until the second ring. It's not just a timing thing is it? You don't see it on initial ring so you press the button at the same time as the caller ID is actually transmitted by the carrier...

OK my bad. These were 5 moves from another location and 5 new co lines. The phone company only put caller ID on 3 of the five new lines and took it off all the moves. I just happened to check a phone W/O cid. The three lines/phones work OK. Of course the phone co. also took away VM on some exts and stutter on others. I used to work for the Bell System/Att a lifetime ago. It didn't seem all that difficult back then. Anybody else have trouble with the phone co wanting to put the demark where THEY want to?

Thanks for the input.

You can't assume anything these days! You always need to very what Telco installs or any provider. MURPHY is just around the corner!!

Because the telephone system is a Partner ACS, I'm surprised that the company is using the LEC's voicemail service as opposed to adding a voicemail to the system.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
