Registry woes, two people sharing same HKCU?

I'll state at the offset that I don't know anything about Small Business Server but bear with me, you might be able to post a useful link to help me out!

Our company has a multi-user Windows application that stores the settings for each user in the HKCU area of the Registry. We've installed our app on a server for a new client but a problem keeps occuring where we'll set things up logged onto Windows as Bob, then set things up logged onto Windows as Bill, and then when we log back on as Bob again he's ended up with Bill's settings.

This doesn't happen with every user, just some of them. On the face of it it seems as though two users are sharing the same Registry settings. I thought - assumed - that every Windows user had a unique set of Registry entries?

Please can anyone suggest how to diagnose and fix this problem? Our app is being blamed and I'm sure it's the way their server has been set up rather than our app.

If it is settings per user (HKCU), then run a specific login script to import the reg settings for each user as they log in. This way the registry is the way you need it for that particular user.

HKCU is a dynamic hive, it points to the specific keys for a user under HKEY_USERS\SID. So it is not possible for two users to use the same settings in that hive unless they are logging in as the same user ID.

I hope you find this post helpful.
