Registry Window Automatically Closes

When I try and edit the registry using regedit, the window just closes after about 5 seconds automatically. I wonder why this is.

Also, I'm having a Norton Anti Virus problem. It says vpc32.exe has generated errors and will be closed. The reason I'm trying to access the registry is to manually uninstall Norton and reinstall it.

Any help woulf be appreciated. Thank you.

You could well have the trojan Trojan.KKiller present on your system.

You will need to rename regedit.exe as regedit.com so that you can open it to make the necessary corrections.

You might run a full scan in safe mode first. Update your antivirus, then scan in safe mode.
