Hi,
I am trying to get analysis services manager working from a virtual machine. This VM works fine and can see the whole network. The problems is that the VM needs to be able to see a certain registry key.
I can not see the HKLM\software\microsoft\OLAP Server reg key from the VM, although I am logged on as exactly the same domain user on my PC and can, indeed, see the offendign key. I can see all above and below, but not that one. I can even create new keys from the VM.
This is now driving me a little potty - does anyone have any idea what may be going wrong? The VM and AS server are both Win 2003 and my PC is XP.
I have checked in the winreg key on all 3 boxes and they are identical.

Have you checked security on that key?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Mark,
Yup - I have moved a step closer. I now know that it is something to do with Windows 2003.
I can see the key logged on as me on any number of XP machines, both physical and virtual. I cannot see the key logged on as me on any number of 2003 machines, physical and virtual.
If anyone could point me to a Win 2003 setting that could restrict this, then I would be grateful.

Thanks

Wow, great mystery there. I am not aware of any registry or security settigns that would prevent that. I'll see if I can find anything.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
