Hi guys,
got a problem with a friend's PC running Win 95. Machine got a BSOD, so he re-started and then got a message at the front of windows saying there was a problem with the registry - to re-boot the PC and windows would restart. He followed the instructions and the same thing happened. In fact, it's the only thing that happens. Any ideas ?

Cheers,

Artois.

It seems that you may need to boot into DOS and restore the registry, Win95 backs up the registy. I can't rember of the top of my head what its called.

But i do believe that the Win95 OEM Book (with the Licence on the front) told you how to do this.

The old backups of the Registry in '95 are called SYSTEM.DA0 and USER.DA0 (the last character in each instance there is a ZERO). Rename your USER.DAT to USER.XXX and your SYSTEM.DAT to SYSTEM.XXX, then rename the .DA0 files to .DAT respectively. That will restore your registry.
