Hello,
I'm using windows 2k service pack 3. My hard drives are attatched a Promise 133 TX IDE Adapter card. My motherboard is a Abit BE6 Version 1. It has onboard Ultra ATA 66. This cannot be disabled in the bois. My CD Burner is a Plextor 40x12x40. I have 3 hard drivers. A Maxtor 6e040lo, and some maxtor 20 gig drive. My boot drive is a WD200BB. A 20 gig 7200 RPM western digital Drive.
The problem is when I burn a on the fly from my Maxtor drive, I can only burn no faster than 16x. If I try, The buffer from for my Burner empties and then I have to wait for it to rebuild then it burns a bit more, empties then starts to burn again. I'm using Nero to burn. I will soemtimes get buffer underrun. THis seems a little impossible but it happens. My Burner is set UltraDMA so that's working correctly.
I believe that there is something wrong with the buffer information between the IDE Card and the actually mainboard. Is there anyway that I can increase the buffer values. I would gladly sacrifice RAM for being able to burn at 40x. I hope someone will be able to answer my question and I hope I've provided enough information.
