I've recently inherited the backing up responsibility for a couple of servers which run TestDirector on them. The scheduled back-ups complete without any problems, what is extremely troublesome though is the time that they finish in. It is not rare now that the backup for the application server (which starts at around 4am) does not complete until around 7pm, by which time i've gone home, and the tape cannot be changed for the following days backup.
While alot of this back up time is spent backing up open files (users access this server from many different countries & time zones), a major portion of it is spent backing up the registry - nearly 4 hours!
I figure i can't do much about reducing the time to backup the open files, but if i can get the registry backup down to much shorter time period, it would be a great help to our back up procedures.
If anyone has any tips in reducing this time it would be greatly appreciated.
We are using Windows 2000 SP1, with ARCserve 2000 7.0 + BAOF. Thanks
