I am tring to create an MDE application for someone to try, but the Listview control is fast becomming a pain in the neck. Is there any way to avoid having to open up the form again at the other end to re-insert the control before there's any glimmer of something alive? Are we supposed to use whats there or not? - Access 2003. I tried to register it with Tools/Activex - Picked the control - but then could not find a name I should be looking for on the PC and where BG hides it. Many thanks

How are ya ZOR . . . . .

The two I know of are:
[ol][li]Microsoft ListView Control 6.0 (SP6) = [purple]MSCOMCTL.OCX[/purple][/li]
[li]Microsoft ListView Control 5.0 (SP2) = [purple]MSCOMCTL32.OCX[/purple][/li][/ol]
[purple]Do a hard target search for the OCX files . . .[/purple]

Do you want to see the name & location of Activex controls?
[ol]
[li] Open MS Excel, Bring Code Window[/li]
[li] Insert a USERFORM [/li]
[li] Right click on TOOLBOX > ADDITIONAL CONTROLS [/li]
[li] Select each item and see the location & Name of each OCX & DLL in the box below [/li]
[/ol]
I don't think you need to distribute the ListView OCX with your app as they are windows default install.

Thanks very much both of you, both get stars for that. Wonder if there is a way in VB of an automated registration of this .ocx. I will have to suck it and see also to see if once registering it first on a pc, then does that allow a silent install of an MDE with controls already there? Anyone answers these two? Thanks again.

Thanks, but I just wondered whether a small .exe could be thrown together to run regsvr32 on his machine and install it from CD if not there. Trying to keep it as simple as possible. However there may be legality issues to investigate. Seems crazy applications have all these things bundled in but 75$ cannot use or don't want to use. That's life, have a good day.

What ever you do, make sure the [blue]locations of your references[/blue] for the MDE are the [blue]same as before[/blue] you made the MDE. [purple]You problem is indicative of a reference changing location (not where it was at design time).[/purple]

Since your having this problem, it wouldn't hurt to check them all . . . .
