Where in the registry can i find the registered name? Or better yet is there a simpler way to change this? Some guy told me he could install XP so I let him, loser put his name on my machine....A reinstall seems too long, in win98 I've done it via the registry...anyone's ideas are greatly appreciated!

Here you go.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RegisteredOwner

This is a related question. I did a search for "Computer Name" in the registry and found it in many different places. If you wanted to change the Computer Name, would you do it by changing each occurrence in the registry?

Or, would changing the computer name through the Control Panel (Start > Control Panel > System > Computer Name > Change change all occurrences in the registry?

Yes for computername that is the way to do it for registered name, the above is the way to do it

cheers
