regional settings and numeric values

tell me, how do you manage with this problem :

the database (MS SQL server in my case) have numeric values in US and the client regional settings are french. how do you manage to uniformize this ? i mean in US you have the '.' that is the ',' in french, and vice versa.

is there an option in SQL server that converts those separators automaticaly ? Best regards,

Does version matter here, coz I am experienceing this problem from SQL 6.5 i.e. since i started using SQL Server. A problem which many face but no reference by MS. I would be glad if someone who knows the solutions posts it here. The softwares which my company develops are installed on Deutsch machines where a . is replace by a ,
