my scenario is imprompto generates 90K records where as whn i migrate to cognos 8 and use tabular approch and same query (modified wit prompts) generates 65K records any sql issue or cognos 8 ??? if any one wants to see the sqk can write to me on gopi.krish27@gmail.com

Are you using straight SQL for your reports or did you migrate the Impromptu catalogue to a Cognos 8 framework?
The number of returned rows is one issue, but how about the results between those shown in Impromptu and Cognos 8 ?

The differnce between number of rows returned can be solely in the model developed. Changing a join type may exclude a subset and yield a smaller returned resultset.
