Regarding email address and Users

hello every one,

I am kind of new to share point. I installed portal 2003 and i got some questions.
1) Does user name we give in share point need to be in OS computermanagment Users?

2) I am having problem in sending email to address other than my domine.

Sharepoint's designed to work with Active Directory, so your users need some ID in the domain or machine accounts for external connections.

As for the mail, it sounds like Exchange is not allowing routing from the Sharepoint box out to the world. Check with your Exchange admin.

Thanks for the responce I had been away for long time.

Regarding Sharepoint email problem I am not having any exchange server.

All I am using is a smtp ie smtp.xyz.com
which is being hosted by bcentralhost.

Bcentralhost would have to accept routing from your Sharepoint box.
