Reg.Cisco 3548XL switch

Hi,

I have a 3548XL switch as spare and found some problem in it. When it is powered on all the LEDs on its ports are glowing constantly and when connecting through CONSOLE its giving out junk characters on terminal. Is the switch bad?

I would say this is not the "normal" behavior for the switch ports, but I can not say that the switch is bad. Junk chracters on console normaly mean you have a wrong port speed set. I would check this first. I you are alsready using 9600bps, try varying the speed: 2400/4800/19200 ...
You may also try to connect a PC to one of the switch ports and see if the led turns green. This would be a good signal.
