Refreshing objects on a form.

I am programming in Visual dBase version 5.5, and I am having some difficulty refreshing text or textbox objects on a form. My form has a loop that processes thru a table and re-builds indexes from a table of index tag expressions. During the loop I am displaying which file and which tag is in process, and they will not display properly on the screen. They either will not display at all or they are one loop behind what they should be. If anyone has any ideas...
